Volunteering Opportunities

There are so many ways you can use your talents to support Choices – and  volunteering with us can be a very rewarding experience!

We rely on a team of incredible volunteers who help us provide our services. We often have volunteering opportunities within our parenting support and counselling projects as well as within the office. Volunteer roles in our prison and community counselling projects are placements for trainees on accredited training programmes.

Take a look through the options on this page – if there’s anything you like the sound of, get in touch for more info!

If you know which role you're applying for, we'd love to hear from you. If your enquiry is about counselling placements, please email hr@choicescharity.org. Please specify if you would like a prison or community counselling placement, provide information about your qualifications with a CV and share why you're interested in a placement at Choices.

Join Team Choices and walk 10, 21 or 42K across London this January 2024!

We're looking for a few people who could commit to fundraising by walking to support Choices' families - we need your help!

Every donation will be used to help us promote our projects and continue to provide emotional and practical support to all those who need it. This winter you can walk to raise money for Choices so that we can tell more people across the UK about the services we offer.

Become a befriender

Could you befriend a pregnant woman or new mum during one of the hardest times?

One-to-one befriending is for pregnant women and new mothers facing difficult circumstances, who would benefit from having someone to talk to each week. We give all our befrienders training and support and match them with a mum we think they will get on well with. Befrienders then offer emotional support and encouragement.

What makes a good befriender?

  • Someone who is interested in other people

  • Someone who is a good listener

  • Someone who is reliable

  • Someone who could commit to volunteering 2-3 hours each week

Befriending is a chance to give, by offering your time and commitment, but every befriender also has stories of what they get back in return. If you’re interested get in touch to find out more!

Counselling placements

Are you a trainee or trained counsellor looking for an exciting voluntary position?

Choices offers counselling to women struggling following an abortion, or miscarriage, as well as counselling for women facing mental health challenges during pregnancy. We also have placements counselling women for child loss and separation in prison.  Get in touch if you’d like more information about what this entails. We have placement positions both in the community and in three prisons.
